What do the fee tiers look like?

TierPrimary tuition (S$)Final two years (S$)Schools
Premium45,000 to 49,00053,000 to 59,000Dulwich, Tanglin, Stamford, SAS (with facility fee), UWCSEA (with levy), Nexus, CIS, SJI International
Mid35,000 to 45,00044,000 to 53,000AIS, XCL, Dover Court, GESS
Value14,000 to 28,00020,000 to 33,000OWIS, Middleton, Invictus, GIIS

The value tier is real, not a compromise on curriculum: OWIS and GIIS run the IB Diploma, Middleton and Invictus run Cambridge IGCSE. What the fee buys at the top is campus, class size, breadth of programme and, at the older schools, waiting lists. Our affordable international schools guide goes through the value tier in detail.

What is charged on top of tuition?

  • Application fee: S$288 to S$2,500, non-refundable, per application. SAS is the outlier at S$2,500; most are S$500 to S$1,500.
  • Enrolment, confirmation or registration fee: S$1,000 to S$9,900, paid once on accepting a place, non-refundable. SAS's registration fee doubles as its capital contribution.
  • Capital levy or facility fee: a one-time S$4,500 at Tanglin, Dulwich and CIS, S$6,200 at AIS, S$8,320 at Stamford. Some schools charge this annually instead (see the table), and UWCSEA's development levy is front-loaded: S$9,537 in year one, S$5,166 after.
  • Deposits: refundable on leaving with notice. SJI International holds S$6,000; Dulwich boarders S$4,000.
  • Technology fees: S$370 to S$1,270 a year where devices are school-supplied.
  • English as an additional language: S$3,000 to S$7,000 a semester at the schools that charge it (Nexus S$3,000 to S$6,000 a semester, CIS S$9,500 a year, SAS S$7,230 a year, Stamford up to S$14,900).
  • Exams: IGCSE and IB exam fees are billed separately, typically S$1,000 to S$3,000 in the exam year (AIS's own estimate; SJI charges S$188 per IGCSE subject and S$228 per IB subject).
  • Bus, uniforms, trips, lunch: extra everywhere. SAS lists buses at S$1,320 to S$3,500 a semester and overseas trips at S$700 to S$3,400.

Rule of thumb: first-year cost at a premium school is tuition plus S$10,000 to S$20,000 in one-time charges plus 10 to 15% for extras. At a value school the one-time charges are S$1,500 to S$4,000.

How can families reduce the bill?

  • Sibling discounts, usually from the third child: 5% on all tuition at Dulwich for families of three or more; 50% then 100% off enrolment and facility fees at AIS; 25% off tuition from the fourth child at SJI; 5% and 10% from the second child at Invictus; 10% from the second child at Middleton.
  • Pay annually where it is cheaper: Invictus prices a single annual payment below the termly plan.
  • Corporate packages: Nexus and others accept company payment directly; check what your employer's cap covers, including levies.
  • Half-day early years at Dulwich, Nexus and CIS cost roughly half the full-day rate.
  • Scholarships exist at secondary level (AIS, SJI, GIIS publish programmes) and are competitive.

How do Singapore fees compare with the region?

Singapore's premium tier is the most expensive in Southeast Asia by a clear margin. The equivalent schools in Bangkok charge ฿976,800 to ฿1,256,700 for the final two years in 2026/27, about S$37,000 to S$48,000 at mid-September 2026 exchange rates, which is 10 to 30% below Singapore's premium tier. See our Bangkok fees guide for the numbers. What Singapore families get for the difference is the deepest choice of curricula in the region and, in the May 2026 IB results, a national average of 35.67 points against a world average of 30.88.
