Uppingham School

Uppingham School is one of England's great independent boarding schools, founded in 1584 in the small market town of Uppingham, Rutland. A co-educational boarding school for students aged 13 to 18, Uppingham offers GCSEs and A-Levels. A member of HMC and inspected by ISI, Uppingham is renowned for its exceptional music programme — regarded as one of the finest in any school in the world — as well as its strong academics, drama, art, and sport. Under the visionary leadership of Edward Thring in the Victorian era, Uppingham pioneered a holistic approach to education that influenced school systems worldwide. The school's 40 boarding houses foster a close, family-like community where every student is known and valued. World-class facilities include a purpose-built music school, theatre, art and design studios, sports complex, and beautiful chapel. With students from over 35 countries, Uppingham offers a warm, inclusive international boarding experience in the heart of England. Its alumni include Stephen Fry, the broadcaster and actor.
