The York School
York School in Toronto offers grades from Junior Kindergarten to grade 12. The program is gender-inclusive and offers both traditional and non-traditional programs for girls and boys. Founded in 1965, the York School is the first school in Canada to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) from junior kindergarten (JK) to university entrance. As an IB World School, The York School's motto is Experientia Docet or “Experience Teaches”. The main school offers classes for grades 6-12. There are three fundamental concepts underpinning the IB program during middle school, which include holistic education, communication skills, and intercultural awareness. Integrated Canadian Experience (ICE) is an innovative curriculum taught in Grade 9 that combines history, geography, civics, and literature from the Canadian Continent. With a plethora of athletics, arts and student leadership clubs, students at York School will be prepared for entering university.
