St. Rose's High School

Guyana

St. Rose's High School is a distinguished government Grade-A Senior (National) Secondary School located on Church Street in Cummingsburg, Georgetown, Guyana. Established on August 31, 1867, by the Sisters of Mercy, it is one of Guyana's oldest educational institutions, originally founded as an all-girls school with just 4 students. In 1869, a three-storey building was constructed with a dormitory, reflecting the school's early growth. Today, St. Rose's serves students in Grades 7 through 12 (Forms 1-6), following the Guyana national curriculum and preparing students for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). Situated at the intersection of Church and Camp Streets in central Georgetown, the school enjoys a prime location and a long legacy of academic achievement. Known for producing accomplished graduates in medicine, law, education, and public service across Guyana and internationally, St. Rose's High School continues to be regarded as one of Georgetown's most respected and historically significant secondary institutions.
