St James Senior Boys School

St James Senior Boys' School, founded in 1975, is a distinctive independent day school for boys aged 11 to 18 located in Ashford, Surrey, within the Greater London commuter belt. The school offers GCSE and A-Level programmes and is a member of the Independent Schools Council (ISC), inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). St James is known for its distinctive educational philosophy, which integrates classical learning — including Sanskrit, philosophy, and traditional academics — with modern examination preparation. The school provides a structured yet nurturing environment that emphasises self-discipline, intellectual rigour, and personal responsibility. With approximately 400 students, St James maintains small class sizes that enable personalised teaching and strong pupil-teacher relationships. The school has a strong tradition in sport, music, and drama, with dedicated facilities for these activities. St James draws students from across the Greater London and Surrey area. The school's unique philosophical approach, combined with strong academic results and a warm community ethos, makes it a distinctive and valued choice for families seeking an alternative to conventional independent school education.
