Richmond College Galle
Galle, Sri Lanka
Richmond College Galle, established in 1876, is one of Sri Lanka's most prestigious boys' schools and a founding member of the Group of Nine elite traditional schools. Located in Galle, Sri Lanka's historic southern port city within the famous Dutch colonial Galle Fort, Richmond College combines over 140 years of academic tradition with the rich cultural heritage of southern Sri Lanka. The school offers both Sri Lanka national O-Level and A-Level programmes from Primary through Sixth Form for male students. Richmond College is renowned for its academic excellence, dominant cricket and rugby tradition, Sinhala cultural arts, and the annual Richmond-Mahinda Battle of the South cricket encounter — one of Sri Lanka's most prestigious school cricket rivalries. The campus features historic buildings, science laboratories, a library, sports grounds, a swimming pool, and boarding facilities. Richmond College has produced many of Sri Lanka's most distinguished politicians, academics, sportspeople, and professionals from the southern province. The school's location near the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Galle Fort gives it a unique historical and cultural setting unlike any other school in Sri Lanka.
