Portland Jewish Academy

Portland Jewish Academy (PJA) is an independent Jewish day school in Portland, Oregon, serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. The school provides a dual curriculum integrating rigorous secular academics with comprehensive Jewish studies, Hebrew language instruction, and Jewish values and traditions. PJA's mission is to develop academically excellent, Jewishly connected, and ethically grounded students who are committed to tikkun olam—repairing the world. The school serves families across the spectrum of Jewish observance, creating an inclusive community grounded in shared values. PJA's secular curriculum prepares students for competitive secondary school programs, while its Jewish studies program develops deep knowledge of Jewish history, texts, holidays, and culture. Hebrew instruction produces functional Hebrew literacy by graduation. PJA's warm community extends beyond the school to create meaningful connections among Jewish families in greater Portland. The school is accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools.
