Merchiston Castle School

Merchiston Castle School is Scotlands only boys-only boarding school, located in the Colinton area of Edinburgh. Founded in 1833, Merchiston is one of Scotlands oldest and most prestigious independent schools, educating around 470 boys aged 7 to 18 through both day and boarding places. The school moved to its current 100-acre campus in 1930 and offers exceptional facilities including a theatre, sports centre, golf academy, and tennis academy. Merchiston follows the Scottish curriculum, preparing pupils for National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher qualifications, with strong results and university progression rates. The school is particularly known for its boarding community, with around two-thirds of pupils boarding.
