Lookout Primary School, Montserrat
Montserrat
Lookout Primary School is a government-operated primary school located in the Lookout community of Montserrat. Established after the devastating 1997 Soufrière Hills volcanic eruption that displaced much of Montserrat's population, Lookout Primary was originally founded as a secondary institution before transitioning to serve primary school students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The school operates under the motto 'The Top Is Reached By Striving,' reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and student achievement. Lookout Primary serves the northern communities of Montserrat that were established after the volcanic eruptions forced the relocation of the capital from Plymouth. As one of only two government primary schools on the island, Lookout Primary plays a crucial role in providing free, quality education to Montserrat's youth. The school works closely with the Ministry of Education to deliver the British-based curriculum and prepare students for secondary education at Montserrat Secondary School. With dedicated teachers and a supportive community, Lookout Primary continues the island's commitment to educational excellence despite its small population.
