Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium

Vaduz, Liechtenstein

Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium is the only public gymnasium (academic secondary school) in the Principality of Liechtenstein, located in the capital Vaduz on Marianumstrasse. Founded in 1937 as the Collegium Marianum by the Marist Brothers and transferred to the state in 1981, the gymnasium has been the central institution for upper secondary academic education in Liechtenstein for nearly nine decades. The school prepares students aged 11 to 19 for the Swiss Federal Maturity Certificate (Matura), one of Europe's most rigorous secondary qualifications and the standard gateway to universities in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and across the European Union. The curriculum covers the full range of academic disciplines including languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, and arts, with instruction primarily in German. The gymnasium serves as the academic backbone of Liechtenstein's education system, educating the vast majority of students who go on to pursue university studies. Its close geographic and cultural ties to Switzerland and Austria give graduates access to one of the world's strongest networks of higher education institutions. Age range: 11–19.
