Lick-Wilmerding High School

Lick-Wilmerding High School, founded in 1895, is one of San Francisco's most distinctive and forward-thinking independent high schools, serving grades 9–12 with a mission to develop Head, Heart, and Hands. The school uniquely combines a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with a renowned Technical Arts program — the only such program at an academic high school in the Bay Area — where students gain hands-on mastery in woodworking, metalworking, electronics, and design. WASC-accredited and committed to socioeconomic diversity, Lick-Wilmerding provides substantial needs-based financial aid, making it accessible across income levels. The school's 450 students come from all neighborhoods of San Francisco and the broader Bay Area, creating a genuinely diverse intellectual community. Lick-Wilmerding's graduates are celebrated for their creativity, practical ingenuity, and strong moral compass. The school's award-winning arts programs, championship athletics, and vibrant student culture make it one of San Francisco's most beloved educational institutions. Graduates consistently gain admission to selective universities nationwide.
