John F. Kennedy School Berlin
Berlin, Germany
John F. Kennedy School (JFKS) is a unique German-American public bilingual school in Berlin, established in 1960 as a joint German-US initiative. Located in Zehlendorf, southwest Berlin, JFKS educates students from first grade through twelfth grade (ages 6 to 18). Jointly supported by the German Senate and the US Embassy, the school offers a dual curriculum leading to both the German Abitur and a US High School Diploma. JFK School is authorised by the IBO and offers IB courses in its English and German language programmes. The school has a deeply multicultural community drawing students from German, American, and many other nationalities. JFKS has a rich history as a symbol of transatlantic friendship and educational cooperation, and its alumni include children of US diplomatic and military families, German families, and international families from across Berlin. The school's strong tradition of academic achievement, sport, and community service makes it one of Berlin's most sought-after schools. Admission is competitive and determined by lottery for non-priority applicants.
