International School of Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya

The International School of Kenya (ISK) is arguably the most prestigious international school in East Africa, founded in 1976 through a partnership between the American and Canadian governments. Nestled on a former 40-acre coffee plantation, ISK serves over 1,000 students from more than 75 nationalities, from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school follows an American curriculum based on Common Core frameworks and has offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme since 1982 — approximately 70% of graduates earn the IB Diploma alongside their North American accredited diploma. ISK is dually accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA), and is an authorised IB World School. English Language Learners (ELL) support, Life Centered Education for special needs, and scholarship programmes for Kenyan students further distinguish ISK. Extracurricular offerings are exceptional, encompassing robotics, debate, athletics, theatre, music, and environmental initiatives. Annual tuition ranges from $18,500 to $36,600 USD.
