Heidelberg International School

Heidelberg International School (HIS) is a leading international day school located in Heidelberg, one of Germany's most beautiful and intellectually distinguished cities. Founded in 1966 initially to serve American military families, HIS now serves the broader international community with an IB-focused curriculum for students aged 3 to 18. Offering the IB Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and IB Diploma, HIS is authorised by the IBO and accredited by CIS. Heidelberg's extraordinary academic environment — home to Germany's oldest university (Heidelberg University, founded 1386) and numerous Max Planck and EMBL research institutes — creates an inspirational backdrop for learning. HIS has a warm, close-knit community of over 40 nationalities, with particularly strong ties to the academic and research communities of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The school features modern facilities, a library, science labs, and sports areas. Strong German language support helps students engage with Heidelberg's remarkable cultural heritage. HIS achieves strong IB results with graduates going on to top universities worldwide.
