Gordonstoun School

Elgin, United Kingdom

Gordonstoun School, founded in 1934 by educationalist Kurt Hahn, is one of Scotland's most distinctive and internationally recognised boarding schools. Located on a remarkable 150-acre estate near Elgin on the Moray Firth coast, the school educates approximately 500 students aged 6 to 18 from over 40 countries. Gordonstoun is world-famous for its emphasis on experiential learning, character development, and outdoor education. The school offers GCSEs and A-Levels and is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC). Gordonstoun pioneered project-based curriculum and the 'service to others' philosophy that influenced schools worldwide. The school runs its own fire brigade, coastguard unit, and mountain rescue team, staffed by students. Former students include King Charles III and three other generations of the British royal family. Facilities include a state-of-the-art sports centre, indoor climbing wall, and sailing centre. Gordonstoun's holistic approach produces graduates of exceptional resilience and leadership well prepared for university and life.
