Dharmaraja College Kandy
Kandy, Sri Lanka
Dharmaraja College Kandy, established in 1887, is one of Sri Lanka's premier Buddhist boys' schools and a founding member of the Group of Nine elite traditional schools. Located in Kandy, the ancient capital and spiritual heart of Sri Lanka, Dharmaraja College represents the pinnacle of Buddhist Sinhala educational tradition. The school offers Sri Lanka national O-Level and A-Level programmes from Primary through Sixth Form for male students. Dharmaraja College is deeply rooted in Sinhala Buddhist culture, maintaining a Buddhist temple, practising Sinhala cultural arts, and celebrating the Kandyan cultural heritage. The school is renowned for its fierce annual Battle of the Maroons cricket match against Trinity College — one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated sporting rivalries — as well as for academic excellence, rugby, athletics, and the performing arts. The scenic hillside campus in Kandy features a Buddhist temple, sports grounds, science laboratories, a library, a swimming pool, and dormitory facilities for boarding students. Dharmaraja alumni include many of Sri Lanka's most distinguished Buddhist priests, politicians, academics, and sports personalities.
