Deutsche Schule Lissabon

Lisbon, Portugal

Deutsche Schule Lissabon (DSL) – also known as Escola Alemã de Lisboa – is one of the world's oldest German schools outside Germany, founded in 1899. Located in the Lumiar district of Lisbon, DSL serves students from kindergarten through secondary school (Gymnasium), offering a comprehensive German-language education aligned with German national standards. The school awards the German Abitur, enabling graduates to access universities across Germany and Europe. With an additional campus in Estoril for early years and primary students, DSL provides a bilingual and multicultural environment where German and Portuguese cultures intersect. The school is recognised by the German Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and the Portuguese Ministry of Education. DSL considers bilingualism and multicultural exchange to be fundamental educational goals, preparing students for a global society. Its campus in Lisbon's Lumiar district offers modern facilities, sports fields, and a dedicated community of over 800 students from diverse international backgrounds.
