Del Mar Academy

Del Mar Academy is a bilingual school in Nosara that welcomes students from pre-K through Grade 12 and connects academic learning with environmental stewardship and global awareness. On its official site, the school explains that it is accredited by Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Education and is an authorized IB World School for the Diploma Programme while also pursuing the Middle Years Programme. Del Mar describes a mission centred on excellent bilingual education, love of learning, care for the environment and community, and confidence in each student’s ability to make positive change. The school also emphasizes individualized and small-group instruction, a diverse international student body, and a rural campus with science, arts, sports, and outdoor learning spaces. Official materials present a warm and values-driven environment shaped by respect, integrity, cooperation, tolerance, and love. For families seeking an international option outside the capital region, Del Mar Academy stands out for combining strong academics, IB pathways, and a community-based sustainability ethos in coastal Guanacaste.
