German International School Chicago

German International School Chicago (GISC) is a bilingual German-English independent school serving students from preschool through grade 12 in the greater Chicago area. Part of a worldwide network of German Schools Abroad (Deutsche Auslandsschulen) and accredited by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), GISC prepares students for both the German Abitur and the Illinois High School Diploma. The school's bilingual immersion programme develops fluent German and English speakers, providing students with a significant academic and career advantage in an increasingly global world. GISC serves Chicago's German-speaking expat community alongside international families seeking a rigorous, culturally-rich bilingual education. The curriculum combines the best of German academic rigour with American educational approaches, preparing graduates for universities in Germany, the United States, and internationally. The school offers strong co-curricular programmes in sports, music, arts, and cultural exchange activities that connect students to the broader German-American community of Chicago. Graduates earn internationally recognised qualifications that open doors at leading universities across both continents. GISC fosters a warm, close-knit community where students, parents, and teachers collaborate to create an exceptional educational experience.
