The school is renowned for academic excellence, strong sporting achievement (cricket, rugby, athletics), Buddhist studies, debating, and performing arts. Ananda College's cricketing tradition has produced many Sri Lanka national team players, and its annual Battle of the Maroons cricket match against Nalanda College is one of the most anticipated events in Sri Lankan sports. The school's Maradana campus features extensive sports grounds, science laboratories, a large library, computer facilities, a Buddhist temple, and modern classrooms.
