American School of Quito
Quito, Ecuador
The American School of Quito (Fundacion Colegio Americano de Quito) is one of Ecuador oldest and most distinguished private international schools, founded on October 14, 1940 by former Ecuadorian President Galo Plaza Lasso and U.S. diplomat Boaz Long. Located in the Urbanizacion Carcelen neighborhood of northern Quito, the school offers a comprehensive bilingual education from Nursery through Grade 12 for approximately 2,000 students. The school is accredited by Cognia and the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education, and is recognized by the International Baccalaureate Organization for the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. Graduates receive three diplomas: a U.S.-accredited high school diploma, the Ecuadorian Bachillerato, and the optional IB Diploma. The curriculum blends rigorous American college preparatory standards with Ecuadorian national requirements, taught by a dedicated bilingual professional team. The school serves both Ecuadorian and expatriate families and is a founding member of AMISA and affiliated with TriAssociation. Its long history, diverse student body, and commitment to academic excellence make it a flagship institution for international education in Ecuador.
