American School in Taichung

The American School in Taichung (AST) is a private international school located in the Beitun District of Taichung City, Taiwan. AST delivers a rigorous American-based curriculum to students from preschool through grade 12, serving children of the international community in central Taiwan. The school follows an educational philosophy that emphasizes the whole child — balancing academic excellence with character formation, physical wellness, and creative development. English is the primary medium of instruction, and the curriculum is aligned with U.S. standards, preparing students for admission to universities in the United States and around the world. AST prides itself on a warm, family-oriented campus atmosphere with small class sizes that allow teachers to develop close relationships with each student. The school holds accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and maintains strong standards of academic integrity. Located conveniently in Beitun, the campus welcomes expatriate families, missionaries, and international community members who seek a quality English-medium education for their children in the Taichung metropolitan area. Students ages 3 to 18 are eligible to apply.
