American International Montessori School

American International Montessori School (AIM) in Berkeley, California is the Bay Area's premier Montessori school specialising in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese language immersion education for children from 18 months through 6th grade. Founded on authentic Montessori principles, AIM combines the internationally-proven Montessori method with deep language immersion, producing confident, multilingual children with a genuine love of learning. Elementary students receive English-language Montessori instruction each morning, followed by total immersion sessions conducted entirely in Japanese or Mandarin Chinese by native-speaking, Montessori-trained educators. This powerful combination develops natural bilingual fluency alongside Montessori's hallmarks: independence, intrinsic motivation, and mastery through self-paced learning. AIM's culturally rich environment exposes children to Japanese and Chinese arts, traditions, and perspectives, nurturing genuine cross-cultural appreciation. Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Berkeley, the school serves approximately 123 students in a close-knit, inclusive community. AIM is accredited by the American Montessori Society and is considered one of the leading multilingual Montessori programmes in the Western United States, drawing families from across the Bay Area seeking an exceptional early childhood and elementary education.
